Jul 2002 Bright Vision Hospital Full membership of SHC
Jun 2002 Bright Vision Hospital Opened 32 hospice beds
Jul 2001 Methodist Hospice Fellowship Full membership of SHC
Jul 2001 Metta Hospice Care Started home care service
Aug 2000 Assisi Hospice Established Children's Day Care Centre
May 1999 Department of Palliative Medicine established at the National Cancer Centre. Dr Cynthia Goh appointed as Head of the Department
Feb - Mar 1996 2nd International Asia Pacific Hospic Conference held in Singapore. Attended by Dame Cicely Saunders and 550 participants from countries
Dec 1995 Hospice Care Association Opened Day Care Centre
Oct 1995 Hospice Care Association Moved from 26 Dunearn Road to Hospice Centre at 12 Jalan Tan Tock Seng
Sep 1995 Dover Park Hospice Opened 40 beds
May 1995 Singapore Hospice Council Registered as a charity with 5 full members
Aug 1993 Assisi Hospice Opened Day Care Centre.
Aug 1993 St Joseph's Home and Hospice Moved to a new building at 921 Jurong Road
Jun 1993 Assisi Hospice Started home care service
1993 Dover Park Hospice (DPH) and Hospice Care Association (HCA) Decision to build Hospice Centre as joint venture of DPH and HCA
1992 Methodist Hospice Fellowship Name changed from Agape Fellowship
Nov 1992 Dover Park Hospice DPH registered as a charity
Feb 1992 Assisi Hospice Convent remodeled to provide 31 hospice beds and 8 long stay beds
Dec 1990 Hospice Care Association Moved to 26 Dunearn Road
Jan 1990 Hospice Care Association Funding from Community Chest of Singapore
Dec 1989 Hospice Care Association Registered as an independent charity providing hospice home care
Oct 1989 First Asia Pacific Hospice Conference held in Singapore Attended by 250 participants from 10 countries
1989 Agape Home and Hospice Later to become Methodist Hospice Fellowship
Nov 1988 Assisi Hospice 12 beds allocated for terminally ill patients in Khoo Block
1988-1990 Department of Community Medicine, University of Western Australis, Perth 11 Singaporean nurses' completed a 3-month resident course in palliative care
Jan 1988 SCC Hospice Care Group Ms Chua Lee Kiang employed as Nurse Co-ordinator
Mar 1987 Singapore Cancer Society (SCC) Hospice Care Group established to provide home care
Jul 1986 Article in the Straits Times about the work at St Joseph's Home 144 responses from the public. From this group the first volunteer hospice home care group was formed
1985 St Joseph's Home, Jurong 16 beds set aside for terminally ill patients
