Project Before-I-Die is a public outreach project by students from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, with the aim of raising awareness of palliative care and end-of-life issues in Singapore.
The project installs large chalkboards in public spaces to encourage passers-by to pen down their personal aspirations and wishes on it. By doing so, we invite them to reflect on what they want for themselves – both in life and towards the end of life. At the same time, we aim to engage the public on the importance of end-of-life care and remove the taboo of talking about death.
Talking about death is never easy, especially when a loved one is involved. However, it is still necessary to do so. Having honest early conversations in advance will allow both the patients and their families to focus on what matters, when it matters the most.
Please feel free to come down and write your responses on our boards with the chalk provided!
